For Catholics, the seven sacraments are not simply rituals or traditions. They are encounters with Jesus Christ, given to the Church as sources of grace throughout our lives. Through the sacraments, the Lord strengthens us, heals us, nourishes us, and calls us to holiness. They are traditionally grouped as the sacraments of initiation, healing, and service.

Sacraments of Initiation

1

Baptism

Baptism is the beginning of the Christian life and the foundation of our life in Christ. Through water and the Holy Spirit, we are freed from sin, reborn as children of God, and welcomed into the Body of Christ, the Church. It is the first great gift of grace and the doorway to the other sacraments.

Confirmation

In Confirmation, the grace of Baptism is strengthened and sealed by the gift of the Holy Spirit. This sacrament helps us live our faith more fully, stand firm in Christ, and bear witness to the Gospel with courage, wisdom, and love.

Eucharist

The Eucharist is the heart of Catholic life. In Holy Communion, the bread and wine are consecrated into the Body and Blood of Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit they are transformed into the true and real presence of Christ. The Eucharist unites us more deeply to the Lord and to one another in his Church, strengthening us to live as his disciples.

First Communion

First Communion preparation is linked to our Faith Formation program. For registration and more information, please contact the parish office or our Faith Formation Coordinator.

Sacraments of Healing

4

Penance (Reconciliation)

In the sacrament of Reconciliation, we encounter the mercy of God in a personal and powerful way. When we confess our sins with sincere repentance, the Lord forgives us, restores us to grace, and gives us the strength to begin again.

Confession Times

Please contact the parish office for current confession times or to arrange a private appointment.

Anointing of the Sick

This sacrament brings Christ's healing presence to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or preparing for a major operation. Through the prayers of the Church and the anointing with holy oil, the Lord offers peace, courage, spiritual strength, and, according to his will, healing.

Requesting Anointing

If you or a loved one would like to receive the Anointing of the Sick, please contact the parish office at any time.

Sacraments of Service

6

Holy Orders

Through Holy Orders, men are ordained to serve the Church as deacons, priests, and bishops. This sacrament configures them in a special way to Christ, enabling them to preach the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, and shepherd God's people in love and truth.

7

Matrimony

In Matrimony, a man and a woman are joined in a sacred covenant of faithful, lifelong love. Christian marriage reflects the love of Christ for his Church and gives spouses the grace to love one another generously, remain faithful, and build a family centered on God.

Preparing for Marriage

Couples wishing to marry in the Church are asked to contact the parish office at least one year in advance. Marriage preparation courses are required. For details on what is needed, please contact us.
